Web Application Developer

We are looking for a web application developer to develop, manage, operate and maintain web applications and infrastructure for our award winning language and culture training systems. The web applications we develop are three-tiered rich applications using JEE and MySQL, Flex and Java Swing, running on Linux. We also use LAMP packages for content management, wikis, etc.

Your primary duties will be to manage the operations and deployment of web applications, internal and external. You will also help with web application development, systems administration, and tech support. We are looking for a versatile professional who feels s/he can learn any system or programming language if given time.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of relevant professional experience
• Expert knowledge of Linux application, particularly to install, configure and operate web applications.
• Experience with Java web applications in general and specifically in managing/deploying Java application servers.
• Experience with LAMP applications.
• Solid programming skills, preferably in Java, Python and PHP.
• Experience reviewing logs to diagnose problems.
• Able make code changes and fix minor bugs.
• Ability to provide light help-desk duties (e.g., help users identify problems with their PCs).
• Knowledge of web services technologies (e.g., WSDL, JAXB) is a plus.
• Experience with wikis (e.g., Trac, Daisy) is a plus.
• Experience with web content management tools is a plus.
• Understanding of XML technologies (e.g., XSLT, XML Schemas) and Web standards is a plus.
• Enjoys getting things done fast in a collegial and team-oriented environment.
