Sahel Africa Nationals
We seek native speakers of French, Pashto and Iraqi Arabic to edit foreign language content for our innovative software program. The program teaches foreign languages and cultures, and includes spoken and written content such as words, phrases, sentences, dialog scripts, and cultural notes.
We use the services of native speakers of foreign languages to perform the following tasks:
1. Produce voice recordings
The work involves speaking to a microphone to produce recordings that are used as content and to train the system's speech recognizer. We seek people of varied ages, genders, and accents. We prefer clear voices and the ability to act in front of a microphone.
The work is performed at either our office or a recording studio. The schedule is typically a 2-4 hours per week over several weeks. We pay $50-$100/hour.
2. Write and edit content and annotating recordings
This involves: (a) Evaluating written content for correctness and recommending additional material; and (b) Listening to voice recordings produced by non-native speakers, and evaluating and annotating the recordings for intelligibility, pronunciation, and grammar.
We seek people who have some sense of their native language's grammar. Experience teaching languages is very desirable. Since most editing is done on a computer, it requires either basic familiarity with computers or the capacity to learn how to use software.
The work schedule is from 4 to 40 hours per week over a period ranging from two weeks to several months. The work requires visits to our office for meetings, typically once or twice per week. Some of the work can be done on a home computer with an Internet connection. We pay $20-$50/hour depending on role and experience.
