Director of Software Engineering

As the Director of Software Engineering, you will manage all aspects of the software engineering process, including ongoing enhancements and support to our product lines. You will also manage a growing Software Engineering team. Finally, you will share the responsibility of building the overall technology vision and architecture and improve our technology platform.

You will be responsible for the day to day management, mentoring and guiding of the Software Engineering team. You will be a leader who can grow the team make sure it is motivated, committed and accountable. You will define, implement and manage our software development processes. From the product side, you will be responsible for delivering products and project results on time and within budget. You will work closely with the executive team, and contribute to the overall company and product strategies.

Desired Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering.
• Hands-on experience in development and maintenance of software, both packaged and as a service.
• Expertise with web applications and web technologies, especially: JEE, MySQL, Flex/Flash, HTML/AJAX/JavaScript, Linux.
• Experience with game technology and game development, especially 3D games.
• Proven team leader, highly motivated and self directed with ability to interface directly with clients, employees, executives and peers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Superior organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Effective project management skills, with demonstrated experience managing multiple projects with different customers.
• Five to ten years progressive experience leading a Software Engineering department as a Director or Manager.
• Familiarity with the entire product development lifecycle from concept formation through development, test, deployment, and maintenance.
• Broad familiarity with current application development methodologies and sourcing trends, software development practices, software integration strategies, systems management tools and processes, enterprise architecture standards and other general IT fundamentals.
• Proven track record building highly scalable web based applications
• Strategic out-of-the-box thinker, ability to engage and lead a strong team. Must thrive in a fast paced environment.
• US citizens or permanent residents only.
• Candidates local to (Southern) California strongly preferred.
• Experience dealing with military customers is a plus.
• An advanced degree in Computer Science is a plus.
• Experience with web services is a plus.
• Experience with Massive Multi-player Online Games (MMOG) is a big plus.
